About Daniel

About Daniel Rata

Daniel Rata grew up in New Zealand and moved to Perth, Western Australia, to pursue his musical dream. With a lifelong love of music and cultural Maori background, Daniel clearly saw his future as a musical artist and quickly established a strong reputation working Perth’s up-market bars, clubs and music venues.

Daniel is a unique and very gifted musician with superbly rich and warm vocal tone. Perhaps due to his cultural roots and a deep personal appreciation for a variety of musical styles, his music is free of conformity. Daniel is left handed, and taught himself to play a right-handed guitar ‘upside down.’ This particular approach gives his chord progressions an original and unique harmonic flavour.

As a singer songwriter Daniel has produced a broad repertoire of original songs – finding his own niche and style of writing. Daniel’s independently released debut album ‘Suspended In Time’, won both critical acclaim and strong sales in Australia and featured  airplay rotation on radio stations including 94.5FM Austereo and ABC National Radio.

Daniel’s international exposure commenced in Cannes, France, at MIDEM Music Festival, where he met and began collaborating with renowned UK producer John Ravenhall . Daniel wrote and recorded several tracks in London, and then travelled to Aarhus, Denmark, to co-write four tracks with acclaimed songwriter John Gordon.  Daniel then voyaged to the USA, and recorded all tracks at Pressure Point Studios in Chicago  with Larry Sturm (Sound Engineer), Carey Deadman (Orchestrator and Arranger) including musicians from the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra. With the continuous support of his manager, Martin Black, and an independent music marketer A&R Worldwide Los Angeles, produced two EPs – “Sunshine”  and “Life.” followed  by radio airplay across the USA.

NOW back in Australia, Daniel is working on his third EP with Sydney DJ producer Aladdin Royaal. Daniel’s  new single ALL HERE will be released mid 2013 including the release of his new music video (ALL HERE)…
